ザップ ('Zappu') Kabuki Advertisement (Aus)
Advertising Poster for an Edo-period kabuki theatre show known as 'Zappu' (ザップ). Historic records show this particular show involved a variety of surreal performers, including Orokana Kasubāto (a pink-garbed man who gets into slapstick situations), the 'Hando Men' (a performer hidden behind a curtain only revealing his blue and yellow hands which would construct intricate origami), Daring Deijī (a woman who challenges younger audience members to do semi-dangerous stunts) and Kashikoi Geijutsuka (nicknamed 'the Intelligent Artist' who created very large scale calligraphy on stage and was often seen hanging out with a stone head).
Available on premium matte paper and fine art paper.
